It never hurts to raise the tempo a bit, you know? Or at least, I’m sure Valley can say so…
Members Rob Laska, Karah James, Mickey Brandolino, and Alex DiMauro have been hard at work over the past few months writing songs that speak for a generation. Simultaneously, the band has been gearing up to go on tour this fall, which will find them playing shows all across North America. Life may have seemed like it was at a standstill at one point, but now it’s starting to move again, and it’s moving fast. Valley knows the importance of taking all of life’s glory in, and especially paying attention to the smaller details that may be missed by others during the hustle and bustle. Their new single “Tempo” encourages everyone to do the same!
“Life is short and moves quick. Taking a second to really experience things is so important these days,” Valley says. “So lyrically, it’s about obsessing over a moment or someone in your life but in the sweetest and most pure of ways; from waking up with them in the morning to going out with them at night and existing together in the mundane …but it meaning the world to you. It’s wishing we could slow down time to experience each moment together more deeply. ‘Tempo’ is all about tension and release sonically.”
Valley wrote “Tempo” with Soaky Siren, who they decided to sample throughout the song. While they admit they’ve had a tendency to pair darker lyrics with brighter melodies in the past, “Tempo” is about enjoying and capturing the happiness you feel in a certain moment.
The group spilled, “We often as Valley talk about our love for juxtaposition in songwriting. It’s played a huge role in our style and how we story tell with our music. Happy melody = sad lyric. ‘Tempo’ is very much opposite to that process for Valley and particularly why we love it so much.”
You’ll love “Tempo” just as much too! Give it a listen below.
