The summer of 2021 has carried a totally different tune than last years. Things have certainly been looking brighter for many, including Aluna! After a year of being unable to play shows, she’s glad to be back playing for her fans, and she reflects upon it all in her latest single “Summer of Love.”
Aluna says, “In the summer of 2020 we wanted to feel like we were gonna change everything… we also felt crushed at the same time and the first thing we needed was love from the person closest to us or just from ourselves to keep going…the summer of love. 2021 has this feeling of a darkness lifting and I just wanted to capture that.”
Her new music video for “Summer Of Love” features exciting clips from her recent DJ sets at Sound Nightclub in Los Angeles and Elsewhere Rooftop in Brooklyn. Check it out below!
Aluna has spent the past year creating music that will continue to pivot her career into an exciting new direction. She’s feeling recharged now, and she’s certainly glad to see people hitting the dance floor once again. She says, “The first time playing in front of a live crowd again takes me back to when I first started DJing — but this time it was different — now I see a future where diversity in dance music is the norm and this is just the beginning. I could feel the openness of the people dancing, the hunger for my BIPOC-focused dance set from around the world, and it makes me so grateful to be alive to see it. At my shows it’s a chance to re-define and reignite the culture of freedom and unity — that euphoria of something meaningful but completely joyful.”
