Carlie Hanson Confronts Her Thoughts In “Off My Neck”

Alice Baxley

Your brain is super powerful, but sometimes it just won’t switch gears when you really want it to. There’s times where no matter how hard you try, you just can’t stop thinking about a certain thing.

(To make matters worse, many people around you may just have the audacity to assume you’re choosing to have such thoughts. While it’s important to let your emotions process and to feel them out, no one chooses to be miserable.)

Any way you look at it, sometimes you can’t help but tell your own brain… “CAN YOU NOT?” This led Carlie Hanson to write her new single “Off My Neck.” The explosive alt-pop track serves as a megaphone for anyone trying to heal from a traumatizing situation that keeps coming to mind, as well as those who may have had their feelings invalidated along the way.

Carlie says, “’Off My Neck’ is about a friendship that goes sideways and how you want to escape your own brain just to stop thinking about it – especially when it’s someone you thought would be in your life forever.”

It’s rough out there, but Carlie Hanson’s rawness in her music is here to help guide you through your days. After touring with artists such as Lauv, Troye Sivan, Yungblud and Bad Suns, Carlie decided to spend time working on her second EP DestroyDestroyDestroyDestroy. Released last year, the album featured powerhouse singles such as “Side Effects,” “Daze Inn,” as well as collaborations with iann dior and Lil West.

This past Saturday, Carlie was able to reunite with her fans and perform a sold-out show at The Moroccan Lounge in LA. To keep the momentum going, Carlie teamed up with Depop for a special collection and giveaway! Click here to check it out.

Do check out “Off My Neck” below, but don’t break your neck headbanging to this one! (It’s okay to be in your feels and lose yourself in the music though. If there’s one song you should be doing *that* to, it’s this one.)
