Since 2016, Elujay has been offering his musical gifts to the world. The multi-talented artist from Oakland has been on a steady rise, and there’s no stopping him! There’s especially no stopping Elujay from seeing the world in HD, and he’s bound to have you doing the same with his new single “1080p.”
Produced by HXNS, “1080p” erases lines between genres to create a slick, satisfying, yet totally dance-worthy listening experience for all. In a way, the song was also inspired by Elujay’s Trinidadian background.
“I have a lot of family in England because many of my relatives moved from Trinidad to London,” Elujay elaborates. “So I would go to London a lot during the summers and hear a lot of UK drill, garage, house, reggae. I had been working on these particular sounds for about 4 years, but I was caught up in this idea of just making RnB. So I was basically too scared to release it. But, I just decided to focus on building out these sounds that I loved so much and hone in on my roots. The record is also inspired by my deep love for 70s jazz.”
It’s a great thing Elujay released “1080p” after all! Back in 2016, the 25-year-old artist released Jentrify, inspired by the ongoing displacement of Black folks in the Bay Area. The project also showed some love to Elujay’s hometown of Oakland, and was shown plenty of love from listeners everywhere. This led to a sold out show in Oakland, and his follow up EP Adojio. Elujay has also landed a handful of sync placements, his most recent being on HBO Max’s Sweet Life.
