And now, for a song as vibrant as the colors in a Dr. Seuss book… it’s time to listen to corook’s debut single “sims”!
But first, let’s talk about corook. After all, she’s the main character of this story. Corinne Savage (aka corook) was born on a bus, and grew up outside of downtown Pittsburgh. She’s a middle child who kinda hates salad and snakes, but who could blame them? After attending a performing arts high school, corook went on to attend the Berklee College of Music, and graduated with two degrees! It’s an impressive accomplishment, just like being able to solve a Rubix cube in under a minute… which she can totally do.
corook can also create total bangers, and “sims” is one of them. As soon as you hit the play button, you’ll begin to navigate a huge interface of escapism. It’s only a speckle, or better yet a pixel, of what the 26-year-old who describes themselves as a “singer, songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist, and huge f*ckin dork” has in store for everyone.
“I use a lot of coping mechanisms as distractions. In college, I had so much homework, but I would play Sims for five hours to avoid all of it. At the time, I was using all of the anxiety to distract myself from feeling good, happy, and excited. The concept of the song is how you wish you could control time, age, emotions, and outfits. For as personal as it is, it’s as humorous as possible.” – corook
