Millions around the world have been captivated by the passionate lyrics and powerhouse vocals of Vancouver Island’s Lauren Spencer-Smith. By now, you’ve probably heard her breakout single “Fingers Crossed” on your TikTok timeline, top Spotify playlists, and even the biggest radio stations in North America. It’s a hit, and we love to see it!
Today, you get to (literally) see it, as Lauren just shared the official music video for “Fingers Crossed.” The visual adds another layer of depth to the already ultra-relatable track, as she looks back upon those “what could have been” moments.
Speaking of looking back, let’s rewind for a second and talk about exactly how Lauren became one of the hottest rising stars of 2022. Just like many other young people, Lauren was juggling work, school, and her musical ambitions. She taught herself how to play the guitar and piano, and shared videos of herself singing on social media. One day, Lauren’s dad filmed her singing “Always Remember Us This Way” from A Star Is Born, right in his truck. The clip received millions of views, and earned Lauren an invite for American Idol‘s 2020 season.
While Lauren placed in the Top 20, her momentum certainly didn’t stop there. During the COVID-19 lockdown, Lauren launched her TikTok page, sharing covers of songs as well as some of her original compositions. “Fingers Crossed” was one of them, and it took the app by storm. She entered a partnership with Island and Republic Records, and is ready to keep new music flowing throughout 2022! In fact, her next single “Flowers” is right around the corner.
