Lauren Spencer-Smith is back today with “Flowers,” a follow-up to her inescapable breakout single “Fingers Crossed.”
“Flowers” is an introspective ballad that finds the 18-year-old evaluating her self-worth after a relationship gone wrong. However, this isn’t just ‘another breakup song.’ Just like “Fingers Crossed,” Lauren hopes to leave listeners with a sense of empowerment, realizing it’s okay to realize you deserved so much more. While you’re at it, why not give yourself that five star treatment?
“‘Flowers’ is about looking at a past experience and knowing I deserved more,” Lauren spills. “I want people to be able to contemplate their own situations, and learn from them and heal if they need to. You aren’t alone and it gets better.”
With her explosive vocals igniting the musical landscape, Lauren Spencer-Smith can easily be dubbed a voice for this generation. It’s a huge title to wear, but it’s also a way of life for Lauren. She says, “When I’m writing I always think about what’s going on in the world. How are people feeling? What are they going to relate to? I want to listen to a song and know what it’s about, that’s why I write with details about my life but always think, how will my fans relate? I want it to feel universal.”
