Cassie Marin Embraces Herself In “Push Me”

We could all use a positive push here and there, and Cassie Marin is doing the honors with her new single “Push Me”!

As a child growing up in Miami, Cassie Marin devoted much of her time to being a gymnast. She had big dreams of going to the Olympics, and was very dedicated in her training. Unfortunately, Cassie suffered a serious injury when she was 13, causing her gymnastics career to end abruptly. However, this didn’t rob her of her ambitious spirit!

Cassie taught herself how to produce and write songs, and channels the discipline she developed through the sport into her art. Perhaps you’ll feel it through her delicate vocals, her futuristic beats, or her reflective songwriting. It all becomes more translucent than ever with “Push Me,” a song that catches Cassie vowing to stand tall in an often dark and discouraging world.

Cassie spills, “When I originally wrote and produced ‘Push Me,’ I was in a headspace where I felt as if the outside world was telling me ‘no’ all the time. I was abused by people in my life, then judged for my sexuality and for who I was inside. I was surrounding myself with friendships that weren’t allowing me to express the full essence of who I am, and I felt like I was constantly being asked to change who I was in order to make others more comfortable. ‘Push Me’ became my medicinal message and constant reminder that the more I welcome every unique part of myself, the more complete I will feel all on my own.”
