Remember when we were all younger and the world didn’t seem so dark? Back when the idea of hating someone (including yourself) seemed completely outlandish?
Perhaps some of the cartoons we grew up watching in our early childhoods didn’t prepare us for the unfriendly realities of this world, but at least one of them served as the foundation for Jax‘s new single “u love u.” The multi-talented singer/songwriter teamed up with viral hitmaker and GRAMMY® nominated producer JVKE to mold a familiar tune into a self-love anthem that will linger in your brain for days to come.
Sometimes you can just feel it in your bones when a song is about to take the internet by storm, and “u love u” is definitely one of those songs! Jax spilled, “The song is about being secure with yourself, because that’s when tour relationship works out the best! It’s much easier to be in love when you love yourself first. We wanted to talk about past relationships not working out because of jealousy and games… and boom. It turned into a goofy cocky love song!”
Although, it’s fair to say Jax is already a certified pro when it comes to penning songs that are quirky, yet quick to latch on to. When Jax was growing up, she performed in multiple bands and enjoyed a colorful array of genres. At 18, she developed cancer above her vocal cords, which unfortunately retuned after a few months of remission. Jax had just moved to LA to pursue her music career, and found herself unable to sing. She decided to turn to songwriting for others, and found success doing just that.
As she regained her ability to perform, Jax found herself making yet another adjustment due to the pandemic. She started posting hilarious musical clips on TikTok, which offered different “perspectives” to hit songs. Loved far and wide, Jax quickly amassed over 8 million followers on the platform, and started sharing her own original music with the world in 2020.
Jax was crowned TikTok Songwriter of the Year at the 2022 iHeartRadio Music Awards, and has been working towards her debut full-length project under Atlantic Records. With “u love u,” we have the opportunity to celebrate ourselves AND Jax’s journey so far! (Sounds like a plan? Me thinks yes!)
