Mia Schuster, known to the music world as mine, is ready to celebrate her identity and self-confidence with her new single “H2O.”
After spending most of her life in North Dakota, mine is now enjoying the feelings of liberation and unlimited creative potential in Boston as a Berklee student. She’s become her own person, and “H2O” embraces it all.
“It’s basically one big declaration that I know who I am and that I’m standing firm in it,” mine says. “In the song, I strip back some of the layers of who the world told me I was ‘supposed’ to be and I trade them for who I really am. The title came about partially because I’ve always found the water to be the place where I feel most at home. I knew if I were to sum up my soul some part would have to be made of it. And voila, ‘H2O’ came to be!”
“H2O” is bound to be an essential song on your playlists, just like water is an essential part of all of our lives. Besides water, here’s a list of five other things mine can’t live without… as told by Mia herself!
Music
This might be a big ‘duh!’ as a musician, but seriously I don’t know what I’d do without it. I always need some new song to be playing on repeat and obsessing over or else I’ll go mad with boredom
Animals (literally any and all)
I thrive best when there is some type of cuddly creature within at least 3 feet of me. I have 2 puppies back home and they are the absolute loves of my life. Don’t ask for a pic, I’ll show you ten…and some videos.
Jesus
He’s the man. I’d be one big, blubbering mess without my faith, let me tell you that. It grounds me and keeps me whole. Everything comes back to this one.
My alone time
I’m pretty introverted, so I recharge best when I am alone. This is the place where I do most of my creating. I think clearest when I have the space simply to just be, with no outside pressure or noise.
My support system
Family, friends, fellow creatives. Life is so vibrant when you invite other people into your journey and process. I’m unbelievably grateful for my community and their constant love and support.
Bonus *nerdy* and *somewhat less serious* answer!
My DS (I’m behind, I need a switch, I know), but if I could never play Animal Crossings or Zelda again, I would be one sad lil bug.
