Julia Wolf isn’t here for anyone who feels the need to crawl back into her life… and their unsolicited advice. Who could blame her, though?
Let’s take a moment to discuss just how annoying it is when you have some random (or not so random) person who has brushed you off countless times decide it’s time to swoop in and make a comment that isn’t actually constructive at all. Or how about those folks from back home who never really seemed interested in your ambitions, until you hit a major milestone in your career in a new city? There’s countless scenarios that can encompass the sentiment of Julia Wolf’s new single “Get Off My,” but the indie-pop singer makes it clear that she’s ready to shut it all down.
Julia spills, “‘Get Off My’ is the all too relatable anthem for people who are fed up and over being mistreated. It’s based on a true story early in my career where my time wasn’t being valued, and in turn taken for granted, as if disposable. But when people stand you up, it becomes the push you need, the kick to stay motivated and prove them so wrong they come crawling back, something we see happen time and time again. When you start doing well and believing in yourself, everyone wants to say they had a hand in making your accomplishments that follow a reality. But this song is here to shut said entitlement down and quite literally tell people to get off my…back.“
Though Julia Wolf was a bit shy in college, music helped her find her voice, communicate all of her thoughts, and unlock a new level of creativity. Overall, her goal as an artist has been to encourage everyone to be themselves. The New York-based artist has taken a total DIY approach to her music, doing all of the writing, artwork, and animations. She’s also self-produced many of her songs, so yeah… it’s time to pack it up, naysayers!
