Max Drazen wants to be honest about a very difficult situation through his new single “Not Because I Loved You.” The emotionally charged single finds the singer sharing a story of heartbreak taking on a completely new look in his world.
“I didn’t think that I could get my heart broken without being in love but my last relationship proved me wrong,” Max spills. “The lyric ‘it’s NOT because I loved you that my heart breaks’ represents the idea that even though I wasn’t in love, being manipulated in a toxic relationship can be just as hard or harder. For me, ‘Not Because I Loved You’ is particularly meaningful because the experience is so recent. I still get anxious when I see my ex, I still have trauma from when we were together, and I still think about the aftermath of the breakup. it’s truly the most honest song I have written to date.”
While “Not Because I Loved You” details emotionally taxing events, there’s something about its bouncy beat that makes this song quite comforting!
What it’s giving: “Not Because I Loved You” is definitely a song to run on stage and start your set with if you want to leave people shook af! Imagine yourself standing in the front row of a very packed Roxy Theatre, the fog machines are doing their thing, and next thing you know Max Drazen runs to the front of the stage with a little jump and gives a killer intro to his set. “Not Because I Loved You” is the perfect candidate to be that song. (This isn’t a plea or a setlist suggestion… but if you know the vibe, you know.)
Also, if you know the vibe, you know 2023 is going to be one sweet year for Max Drazen – no ifs or ands!
