Welcome back, Friday! Here’s what I’ll ✨ personally ✨ be streaming this weekend and all throughout the week.
Willow Avalon – “Drivin” (Remix) feat. Field Medic
OMG… it’s a song literally made for a drive on a perfect day! New York based singer-songwriter Willow Avalon is revisiting her debut single “Drivin,” which saw viral success and critical acclaim in 2022. Her new (and totally refreshing) remix of the song features lo-fi artist Field Medic, and it was a dream come true for Willow!
“Working with Field Medic was like a field day in elementary school,” Willow says. “I always hoped our paths would cross, and that we could make something beautiful together, if not just be friends. Kevin is like a breath of fresh air – I couldn’t be more proud of the song.”
Willow Avalon is a pro when it comes to chasing dreams. She grew up in a very small town of about 100 people in rural Georgia. She loved fixing up old cars, and she also loved playing music at her family’s church. When Willow turned 15, she dropped out of high school and moved to LA equipped with her old station wagon, guitar, and a whole lot of ambition. “Drivin” was released in 2021, and the rest is history!
Travis Scott – UTOPIA
Between you and I… I’m still trying to process my emotions here, but I mean that in a good way! The production on UTOPIA absolutely gorgeous, and the Kanye West influences can be felt around every corner and crevasse. There might be a good handful (or more) of fans who were expecting a project that was a little more “rage-y,” especially as we approach the five year anniversary of Astroworld’s release. After all, it was a project that really pushed boundaries at the time. It definitely caused a pivot in the scene, and UTOPIA has the potential to do the same.
Jack Vinoy – “EVEREST HEIGHTS”
Jack Vinoy has a dreamy treat for us! The Nashville based singer’s new single “EVEREST HEIGHTS” is gentle, funky, and describes his pursuit to live easy.
Jack says, “‘EVEREST HEIGHTS’ is about me just trying to enjoy the little things in life. I have a tendency to worry about the future a lot, but when I do finally slow down and take in the small stuff, I realize that pretty often I’m blowing things out of proportion when there’s nothing to worry about. Life is always better for me when I take care of myself and make an active effort to enjoy the small things, and I hope other people do the same.”
Foxtide – “Hold On”
Southern California garage rock band Foxtide is kicking off a new era with “Hold On.” It’s a song guaranteed to fill your day with great vibes, regardless of whether you’re driving by a beach or not!
(Just… imagine real quick…)
Frontman Elijah Gibbins-Croft says, “’Hold On’ incorporates influence from early 2000s garage rock while bringing something new to the table. The track is really a song about nostalgia, self-doubt and forgiveness. While the verses are a conversation between oneself, the chorus is simply asking someone’s forgiveness.”
Post Malone – AUSTIN
Ooo, we’re going with the government name here! Post Malone’s fifth studio album AUSTIN gives listeners a rather stripped-down listening experience that feels quite intimate – almost like we’re listening to Posty’s personal musical diary. Speaking of personal, the album has absolutely no features whatsoever, so enjoy 51 minutes of nothing but Post Malone himself.
And yes, I did eat Raising Cane’s last night to celebrate the release.
Coleman.X – “summer nights”
Nashville artist Coleman.X is back with “summer nights.” The song feels so lush and shimmery, just like the feeling of being new after healing from a heartbreak. Coleman.X not only wrote and performed the song, but he also produced the song and served as his own recording engineer too!
Brooke Sause – “Consequences”
Brooke Sause’s new song “Consequences” is bright and bubbly, just as one would feel when they’re letting their heart guide their actions. The Florida native worked with her sister Breana on the song, keeping a longstanding tradition of collaborating together alive and well!
“‘Consequences’ is a fun, flirty song about being young and living in the moment,” Brooke says. “It’s about using your brain less and your heart more. It’s for those moments when you consciously decide to do something chaotic, knowing it could end badly, but just having a good time anyway.”
YONAKA – Welcome To My House
UK trio YONAKA’s new EP Welcome To My House invites listeners into the mind of vocalist Theresa Jarvis. There’s happiness, there’s terror. There’s love, there’s hate. All these emotions come together to pave the way for a refreshing project from the band!
As said by Theresa, “Each song represents a memory or emotion inside of me. The experiences I have gone through have all spent time inside my house and consumed me. With the EP being called Welcome To My House, visually I want listeners to be able to open up a door, come into my world and see what each song meant to me at that specific time in my life.”
