Cage The Elephant are back on the road with their Neon Pill Tour, celebrating their latest studio album of the same name which was released this past May. The band made a visit to San Diego’s Viejas Arena on July 6, joined by friends Willow Avalon, Bakar, and Young The Giant. It was a night full of excitement, unpredictable energy, and most importantly, great tunes! Check out photos from the show below.
WILLOW AVALON
Willow Avalon is a singer-songwriter who has a sound that could be best described as a blend of classic country, indie, and pop. It’s quite heavenly if I may say so myself, but hearing her live was even more special! Some artists were meant to be experienced live, and Willow Avalon is certainly one of them.
BAKAR
You may recognize British singer Bakar by his hit single “Hell n Back.” Bakar has a very laid back prescience that is capable of putting his audience at ease. Towards the beginning of the set, he revealed that when he was asked to join the tour, it was an offer he simply couldn’t refuse!
YOUNG THE GIANT
Following Bakar’s performance, Young The Giant took the stage to bring the energy of the crowd to a whole new level. As I looked around the arena, there were so many fans who seemed absolutely elated to be seeing the band once again… and who could blame them? Watching the crowd jumping non-stop while shouting the lyrics to “My Body” was so electrifying, and easily became one of my favorite concert memories of the year so far.
CAGE THE ELEPHANT
Two things are guaranteed at a Cage the Elephant concert… you’re going to have a great time, and frontman Matt Shultz isn’t going to stand still. At all. His microphone stand was the ultimate prop as he leaped across the stage. Despite facing some major challenges over the past few years, it was clear to see Matt loves being on stage – perhaps more than ever!
