Going ‘CRAZY’ For New Music Friday – August 30, 2024

For once, I didn’t have to force myself to get out of bed. LE SSERAFIM did the job for me, as I started listening to their new mini album CRAZY. I felt like it would be a huge disservice to the world to not talk about the project today, as well as all the other music I’m streaming this New Music Friday. Here’s your weekly roundup for August 30. Let’s get it!

LE SSERAFIM – CRAZY

As soon as you press play on this project, you’ll be met with the kind of energy that would make one want to hop on a Suzuki motorcycle and drive as fast as possible. You’ll quite literally feel like “Chasing Lightning.” The heart-racing and fist-bumping sensation continues to build up as you move onto the title track, “CRAZY.” From club anthems to rock infused serenades, this project is a great showcase of LE SSERAFIM’s versatility. You just can’t go wrong with this one.

Mabel – “Chat”

Mabel always seems to have a bop in store for everyone, and “Chat” takes things slow for a simple concept.

She says, “Chat is a song for the summer. A simple love song because the best kind of love doesn’t have to be complicated. When you find a person that you can say all the things on your mind to, and that all consuming feeling takes over.”

With its gorgeous afroswing production, “Chat” will be a very pleasing addition to your playlists!

Daniel Arison – “Easier To Hate You”

Multi-talented artist Daniel Arison turns pain into a powerful pop banger in his latest single “Easier To Hate You.” A taste of what is yet to come from his upcoming album, this track finds Daniel choosing bitterness over bliss when looking back at a failed relationship. (Being the “bigger person” can be so overrated!)

Daniel says, “When I wrote ‘Easier To Hate You,’ I felt really angry. I gave my heart and soul to this person and still got a lot of shit back. Although I gave so much love and support, and literally was the last one standing, I still ended up being cut out of this person’s life. At that point, I decided that it would just be so much easier to hate this person than to wait around hoping things would get better. When you don’t have closure, sometimes it’s easier to hate someone and be done with it. It’s an easier way out and to be able to let go.”

Valley – Water the Flowers, Pray for a Garden

If Valley’s new album Water the Flowers, Pray for a Garden sounds and feels like an emotional reset, it’s because it quite literally is!

Just last fall, the Canadian trio was in therapy, processing many of the feelings one might experience if they’ve been in a successful group for quite a while. It was time for a fresh start for Valley, and the path was paved once they discovered the album’s title track in a Dropbox full of unreleased demos. The band then started to cultivate a sound that could be described as a vibrant blend between indie, folk, and pop. It just felt right to them, and it feels more authentic than ever.

Lead singer Rob Laska says, “The songs just poured out of us. I think that’s a true sign of when you’re making something special. We weren’t looking for things to write about. We knew exactly what we needed to write about. This is the first time I think we’ve ever witnessed as a band where everything’s there, we just have to reach and grab it.”

FLO – “Bending My Rules”

It’s always a great day when we get to hear new music from FLO! Their new single “Bending My Rules” is a burst of R&B delight.

FLO says, “Bending My Rules is such a captivating song and a softer side of FLO. It shows our vulnerability and it speaks to our current relationships with our boyfriends. It’s hard to be a baddie and a lover girl, but sometimes you just have to Bend Your Rules.”

Vincent Mason – “Train of Thought”

Rising country singer/songwriter Vincent Mason’s new single “Train of Thought” is a story of refusing to run back to an ex, and instead, waiting for their inevitable return.

Vincent says, “I got to write with some of my favorite writers in town and walked out with this song. It feels like a new side to my sound while still fitting into what we’ve already built and I can’t wait for the fans to hear it.”
