‘Twas a few nights before Christmas, and a thick layer of fog covered all of San Diego on a chilly night. As people all throughout the city were busy getting ready for the holidays, a crowd filled the House of Blues Voodoo Room to celebrate the season with no other than David Archuleta.
It’s been a year since David Archuleta was last in San Diego, where he performed at the 2023 Pride festival. He was very excited to greet his fans in town once again, along with his keyboard player who was also named David. As an endearing pun to help break the ice, Archuleta mentioned that this wasn’t the first time he was on stage with two Davids.
Speaking of American Idol nostalgia, David Archuleta also took a moment to acknowledge a fan in the crowd who was actually standing in line right behind him to audition for season 7 of the show in San Diego! It was a very cool “small world” moment, and helped create an even more cozy vibe in the room. Most of us might have been strangers, but for the evening, we were like family gathering for a Christmas party.
David Archuleta performed an array of Christmas classics, covers of recent holiday hits, and his own festive gem “Winter In The Air.” He also surprised everyone with a cover of “Defying Gravity” from Wicked, and yes – he NAILED that high note at the end!
