KANGMIN from VERIVERY has officially made his solo debut with Free Falling, a three track project that explores the singer’s emotions during a major transitional period in his life.
With KANGMIN being the first VERIVERY member to release a solo project, he uses Free Falling as an opportunity to strengthen his relationship with fans by focusing on the whirlwind of emotions that comes with the transition from boyhood to adulthood. Being a young adult can be a confusing time for many, and can almost feel like one is being thrusted into a confusing, overwhelming situation. The title Free Falling is a reference to this sensation, one where the world around you seems to be spinning too fast, you’re being knocked off your feet with confusion, and regaining control seems all too difficult.
The album opens with “Intro : small, fragile and still here,” a delicate lo-fi track that KANGMIN wrote alongside fellow VERIVERY member DONGHEON. The title track “Free Falling” follows, and depicts a chaotic relationship that has many highs and lows.
Lastly, “in the mirror” conveys needing to balance the urge of wanting to ignore one’s feelings with facing them head-on. KANGMIN describes his own inner conflicts through this song.
