This week’s fresh squeeze artist is Joe Nix!
Joe Nix is a 23-year-old artist from London. Growing up, Joe moved around with his family quite a bit – relocating between the UK and Paraguay at a very young age. It seemed as though Joe’s life kept hitting the “restart” button every time he moved.
But once Joe was in college, he discovered a love for songwriting. He soon traded his veterinary college training for a music tech course, which helped build up his passion for making music more than ever. Joe attended the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford and London’s Institute of Contemporary Music for a while, but began to feel disillusioned by the songwriting courses. So, Joe paved his own way – and you’re invited to follow along on the journey!
Recently, Joe released his vibrant debut single “Yikes”. The track was produced by London-based writer, engineer and producer Cashy (formerly of Columbia-signed Cash+David). It’s a full send anthem!
Speaking about the experiences that helped shape “Yikes”, Joe said, “It’s about the culmination of lots of things, reaching a point where you feel you’ve been chasing something for so long, waiting for it for so long, then when the moment comes being scared as f*#k! But excited as hell. It’s somewhere in the tension between the two”.
