Norwegian pop superstar Julie Bergan is coming in hot with her new single “Commando” – and it’s so lit!
The bold title was inspired by a nickname that was given to her by a local when she was in Zanzibar a few years ago.
“He thought I looked very strong and determined,” Julie recalled. “I felt like there was so much power in that word. The song is about being strong and taking charge of a situation. Sometimes it’s easy to get into situations where people wanna play games with you, and this is the turning point where you take your power back. As a woman it’s very important to me not to be underestimated, so I always love it when a song makes me feel powerful. I also feel like this song is a little different when it comes to the sound, but it still keeps the essence of me as an artist. Call me Commando!”
Julie first earned international attention with her 2016 single “Arigato“, which topped the charts in Norway and reached #5 in Sweden. It also led her to win Breakthrough Artist of the Year from the Norwegian songwriters’ association NOPA, as well as a Spellemann (the Norwegian Grammy / BRIT equivalent) nomination for Song of the Year. In 2018, Julie was featured on Alan Walker’s “Ignite“, which hit #1 in Norway.
“Commando” was written by Julie, alongside Ida Martinsen Botten, Cassandra ‘Casso’ Strøberg and Filip K, who also produced the single. The song will be featured on Julie’s forthcoming EP HARD FEELINGS: Ventricle 2.
