We’re less than 48 hours away from Disclosure’s third album ENERGY, and it’s time for one last look before the complete package arrives.
Today, the brothers released “Birthday” featuring Kehlani and Syd. The song takes a venture into the R&B space, and just happens to be one of the earliest tracks that was completed for the album!
Howard spoke on the concept on the song, sharing: “Syd & I were going through a similar thing at the time, trying to work out if it was cool to call your ex to say hi or is it too awkward / mean to do so out of the blue?”
Guy added, “It’s the oldest song on the album by far so has definitely stood the test of time and deservedly made the cut. And the addition of Kehlani just took it to the next level and turned into a fire duet.”
“Birthday” is the fourth track Disclosure released prior to ENERGY‘s arrival on Friday, following “Douha (Mali Mali)” with Fatoumata Diawara, “My High” with Aminé and slowthai, and the title track “ENERGY.” There’s tons to look forward to on Friday, besides even more new songs! Fans will be able to explore Disclosure’s “ENERGY Minecraft Experience,” as well as a Kid Studio directed video for “Birthday.”
