Diplo and Mark Ronson’s project Silk City came out of hibernation yesterday when the duo released their new track “New Love,” featuring Ellie Goulding.
It’s Silk City’s first single since 2018’s “Electricity” featuring Dua Lipa, which went on to win Best Dance Recording at the 2019 Grammy Awards.
Okay anyways. This is like the PERFECT time to re-discover your love for Silk City. The dynamic duo put out their first single “Only Can Get Better” back in 2018, and it sent a message to the world that Silk City really would be taking listeners on a journey to pay tribute to the roots of house music. (Also, it was a reminder of just how damn versatile Diplo is. Although, I certainly didn’t need reminding. I been knew, and I absolutely love to see it. You should know that too.)
The duo’s “Welcome To Silk City” playlist got the job done, and two singles followed – “Loud,” and “Feel About You.” Things got really crazy though, when Silk City released “Electricity” in September 2018. The collaboration with Dua Lipa had been teased for months, and (yes, I really did ask her about it when I met her on her North American tour in 2018.)
“Electricity” was EVERYWHERE, and it certainly lived up to its title. “New Love” marks the beginning of a new chapter in the Silk City journey, and having Ellie Goulding jump on the track feels so fitting. Diplo’s 2018 collaboration with Goulding and Swae Lee, “Close To Me,” was also a momentous single. The song received an RIAA Platinum Certification, and was number 3 on the Billboard US Hot Dance/Electronic Songs Year-End chart. So, why not bring one of your best projects back with someone you know will help make things pop off even harder?!
What can I say… I just love “New Love,” and I know you will too. Check it out below!
Stream it everyday, sis.
