London’s Jacob Banks is back with a boom today with his new single “Parade.” It’s one of those songs that is so full of power, and let’s face it – we all need it in our lives.
The inspiration for “Parade” stems from an experience Jacob had when attending a protest in the UK. He hoped to feel a sense of pride while he was there, but it just wasn’t happening.
“I felt defeated by the fact we still have to do this after all of these years,” Jacob said. “We’re all risking our lives with the pandemic out there. However, it turned around in my head. No matter how hard it gets for the oppressed, civilization still doesn’t move without our consent. It was fascinating to me. I found power in it. Society requires those who stand up on the frontline and march. It needs all of the marginalized and disenfranchised groups, so get on board or get used to it.”
Jacob Banks released his first full-length album Village in 2018. His genre-bending sound has captivated listeners all over the world. He’s brought it to life at festivals such as Coachella, Lollapalooza, ACL, Life is Beautiful, and Afropunk in the US.
