Romantic or platonic, being in love with someone (or something) can certainly give you the butterflies! It’s an exciting feeling, and one that Surf Mesa and Madison Beer channeled into their new single “Carried Away.”

One can certainly imagine that being one of the hottest breakout artists of the past year is also exciting. 20-year-old songwriter/producer Surf Mesa (born Powell Aguirre) took the world by storm in 2020 with “ily (i love you baby),” and the song is still going strong! “ily (i love you baby)” was recently certified Platinum by the RIAA, and has received almost two billion combined global streams. It hit the top of Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales Chart, and reached the number two spot at Top 40 radio.

Surf Mesa’s follow up single “Somewhere” featuring Gus Dapperton received top placement spots on playlists such as Spotify’s coveted New Music Friday. 2020 also yielded remixes of Marshmello and Halsey’s “Be Kind” and Shawn Mendes’ “Wonder” from Surf Mesa.

It’s no wonder VEVO named Surf Mesa a DSCVR Artist To Watch for 2021!

“Carried Away” marks a strong start of the year for Surf Mesa. “Working with Madison was a dream,” he says. In his own words, the song is all about “the butterflies in your stomach feeling you get when you meet someone new and fall in love for the very first time.”

Being a part of “Carried Away” allowed Madison Beer to try out something a little different. “When writing songs about love,” she says,“I’m often drawn to the ups and downs and heartache that can result from a relationship gone bad. It was refreshing to explore the other side of love for ‘Carried Away,’ the excited nerves you get from meeting someone and falling in love for the first time. I’m so grateful to Surf who made the whole process so fun.”
