You can’t stop a revolution, and hey – BLACKPINK is the revolution! But today, ROSÉ is leading a revolution of her own with her very first solo single album, R.
R brings “On The Ground” and B-side track “Gone” together for a beautiful pairing of guitar-led beats and ROSÉ’s charming vocals. “On The Ground” finds ROSÉ getting real about the emotional expense of chasing one’s dreams. It’s a song that definitely leaves room for the listener to not only reflect, but to find inspiration too! “On The Ground” was written by ROSÉ, alongside Jon Bellion, Amy Allen, and Raul Cubina.
“Gone” is a little more stripped back, and details the true pain of a heartbreak. We’ve all heard a song or two about a breakup… or maybe more than a few. However, ROSÉ does an incredible job at conveying her emotions on “Gone.” One has the opportunity to really connect with these lyrics and her voice here. It feels intimate, and I don’t know about you, but I certainly won’t take that for granted!
And of course, the music video for “On The Ground” is absolutely gorgeous. Throughout the video, ROSÉ harnesses the power she holds within. After listening to this song, you’ll likely find yourself doing the same too.
It’s safe to say ROSÉ slayed, didn’t she?! Hopefully, we’ll get to hear more solo work from her in the near future. ROSÉ is the second member of BLACKPINK to release a solo project, following Jennie’s “SOLO” back in 2018.
Speaking of BLACKPINK, the girls have another huge accomplishment under their belts that must be celebrated! Earlier today, the IFPI (International Federation of the Phonographic Industry) revealed that BLACKPINK’s THE ALBUM was the fifth most purchased album in the entire world during 2020. This makes BLACKPINK the first girl group to rank in the top 10 of IFPI’s year-end pure sales album chart since Destiny’s Child in 2004.
What a great day to be a BLINK. Listen to R below!
