Not Listening To Olivia Rodrigo’s New Song Would Be A ‘Bad Idea Right?’

Olivia Rodrigo just dropped her explosive new single “bad idea right?”

(Mega emphasis on the word explosive, because the thought of an ex-anything can make you do exactly that. Explode!)

Olivia spilled, “‘bad idea right?’ started with us making a joke song about me hooking up with an ex-boyfriend, but then we realized we were actually onto something. We were throwing the weirdest things at the wall — in one of choruses there’s a part that sounds like an instrument in the background, but it’s me gradually screaming louder and louder.”

I just can’t, and I mean CAN NOT get over the 90s/early 00s pop-rock vibes on this song. We all saw Olivia leaning into these influences a bit on certain songs on SOUR (I’m looking right at you, “brutal.”) I think “bad idea right?” takes it all to the next level. These sounds are so prominent on the song, and let’s face it – they suit the subject matter of the song perfectly! Olivia teamed up with Daniel Nigro once again for this one, and it has a natural effect of leaving listeners excited for what will come next from Olivia’s sophomore album, GUTS.

AND THEN WE HAVE THE MUSIC VIDEO?! HELLO?!?!?!

GUTS drops on September 8, and you can pre-order special colors of the vinyl version on Olivia’s online store now!
