Alt-pop singer Dela Kay‘s new single is a love letter for those who can’t help but overthink about where they stand with someone. Sometimes, it’s best to just trust your gut!
Written in July 2024 at her collaborator Nick Cozine’s house in East Nashville, “Between The Lines” tackles the topics of listening to one’s intuition and self-sabotage in a relationship. Dela Kay describes the song as “moodier” than what she’s usually used to releasing, and features a powerful guitar solo.
Dela Kay says the song “talks about how unusual and confusing peace can feel. Reading ‘between the lines’ to self-soothe can sometimes turn into self-destruction. But in my case, my overthinking ended up being a strong intuition. The line between the two isn’t always easy to see.”
