Australian singer Betty Who embarked on her Out Of The Darkness Tour this summer, which served as a beam of light during what many would consider to be trying times. Making her way across the United States performing in clubs and festivals, Betty Who wrapped up her headlining tour in San Diego on July 2 at the Music Box.
The evening started out with a personal, stripped back performance from singer-songwriter Rozzi. With a voice full of emotion which helped her deliver a very soulful performance, Rozzi was able to instantly connect with the crowd!

While the crowd awaited Betty Who’s arrival on stage, an 80s pop-heavy party playlist was played throughout the venue, which felt like an invite to start warming up their dance moves! Betty Who is known for making glowing synth-pop anthems that encourage listeners to be bold and be themselves. As she started with her single “Run!”, the dance party vibes were unleashed, and the crowd was met with an explosion of synth, flashing lights, and enthusiasm that contributes to her irresistible pop star aura.
Betty was also joined by two fabulous dancers, and the chemistry between all three individuals throughout the night helped make the experience even more cinematic. The action on stage was non-stop, with Betty dancing through the entire set, never missing a beat. Transitions from one song to the next were very swift, with the lights dimming each time and a new burst of energy from Betty, her dancers, and the crowd proceeding.
One moment that really stood out to me was towards the end of the evening, when Betty mentioned she wouldn’t be doing an encore. When the show ends, that’s it! A small deviation to what many might be used to at concerts is always interesting. She went on to perform a cover of Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill,” as well as her empowering hit “BLOW OUT MY CANDLE,” which happened to be the very song that made me become a fan in 2022!
