Major Lazer Returns With New Single ‘Gangsta’

Major Lazer is kicking off a new era with new music and a new member!

The dance music supergroup just released “GANGSTA,” which is their first single of 2025. The track includes an appearance from longtime collaborator and dancehall icon Busy Signal, who was notably featured on Major Lazer’s 2013 hit “Watch Out For This (Bumaye).”

Over the past few months, Major Lazer teased “GANGSTA” at a series of pop-up shows all around the world. The song pulls Major Lazer directly back to their early dancehall roots, an packs a huge punch of excitement!

“GANGSTA” also marks the official debut of Major Lazer’s newest member, America Foster. The British-Jamaican artist first appeared with Major Lazer earlier this summer in Paris, and has been on the road with Diplo, Walshy Fire, and Ape Drums since then.

“Coming back out now with America and Busy Signal feels like starting a new chapter while revisiting an old one,” Diplo says. “Busy Signal was a big part of our journey with Major Lazer, blessing us with his incredible vocals on ‘Bumaye,’ a massive single that helped define what Major Lazer was going to be. Now, more than a decade later, we’re starting another journey with America joining the group. It’s amazing how much she complements the dynamic we’ve already established with Walshy and Ape Drums. While she’s not on this track as a vocalist, look out for her on some new music coming real soon.”
