[PICS!] Madilyn Mei @ House of Blues San Diego – September 19, 2025

Madilyn Mei recently embarked on The One Man Circus Tour, which is making rounds across North America. A handful of lucky fans in San Diego were able to catch the imaginative singer-songwriter live on September 19, as Madilyn Mei brought the tour to the House of Blues Voodoo Room.

Just a week prior to the show, Madilyn Mei released their latest album,  A Thousand Songs About It All: Act I. The project takes listeners on a journey through a world created by Madilyn, full of reflective, confessional lyrics that intertwine with whimsical soundscapes.

In a statement about the album, Madilyn Mei said, A Thousand Songs About It All: Act I is about the dichotomy of how well my career has been going while my mental health and personal life have been deteriorating at the same time. It’s about burn out, the pressures I feel both in music and my personal life, identity, mental health, family and the overall life and feelings of a touring 22-year old queer musician trying to find their place in the world.”

Both relatable and endearing, the album solidifies Madilyn Mei’s status as an artist who is freshening up the music world with their unfiltered creativity. It’s no surprise that most of their shows on The One Man Circus Tour have either sold out, or are very close to doing so. San Diego’s show was no exception, with fans of all ages filling the intimate venue from wall to wall. Notably, there were a lot of younger fans, many bearing friendship bracelets inspired by Madilyn Mei’s songs. Dozens of fans were also dressed in clown costumes, inspired by their hit single “One Man Circus.”

Wearing a black and red circus-inspired outfit, Madilyn Mei effortlessly managed to make the crowd sing and sway along to a fresh batch of new music. As an unexpected surprise, during their performance of “Kleptomaniacrow,” Madilyn Mei directed the crowd to scream at one particular moment. (Sometimes you need to just let it all out!)
