On a sizzling summer day, ENHYPEN gave thousands of K-pop lovers in San Diego a cool treat to be remembered for decades to come.
As part of the U.S. leg of their ENHYPEN WORLD TOUR ‘BLOOD SAGA,’ the K-pop icons brought their stage to San Diego’s Snapdragon Stadium on July 21 for an evening of breathtaking performances. While many would agree that a K-pop act performing in San Diego is a very rare occurrence, fans from throughout the region showed up in full force to take advantage of this opportunity to see ENHYPEN in their own backyards.
Back in May 2026, ENHYPEN launched their ENHYPEN WORLD TOUR ‘BLOOD SAGA’ with an overwhelming reception in South Korea. The group performed three sold-out shows in Seoul, followed by shows in South America at the beginning of July. The title ‘BLOOD SAGA’ leans heavily into ENHYPEN’s vampire lore, celebrating an eternal bond with their fans, known as ENGENE. Just like a “blood pact” cements a promise in many fictional stories, members JUNGWON, JAY, JAKE, SUNGHOON, SUNOO, and NI-KI vow to be fearless and give ENGENE their absolute best.
With the show beginning promptly at 7:30 PM, ENHYPEN wasted no time capturing the attention of the audience. Kicking off the setlist with “Knife,” the six-member team made a bold first impression with their meticulous choreography. ENGENE across the stadium activated their fanchants, repeatedly shouting “KNIFE!” with great emphasis. As the song concluded, the members were surrounded by a troupe of backup dancers dressed in black. The opening verse “Daydream” was whispered, and the crowd quickly joined in by shouting, “It’s my love, daydream, dream, dream, dream.” Screams immediately filled the stadium, as the audience was captivated by the live performance of this sensual track.
At this point, there was no denying that both ENHYPEN and the audience were pumped up. While NI-KI rapped the beginning of “Outside,” the crowd danced along to the beat, creating an exchange of energy that only led to more enthusiasm from the group throughout the song. An added orchestral outro helped make the performance extra dramatic, as the group walked off the stage momentarily. The screens on stage began to show a wide camera shot of the entire stage, and the members re-emerged, joyfully marching to the end of the catwalk to perform “Brought the Heat Back.” Bursts of fireworks surprised the audience toward the end of the song, along with streams of confetti billowing from the end of the catwalk. With all the jumping and screaming that had taken place within the past 15 minutes, it was almost hard to believe the evening was barely getting started.
Standing side by side, the members took a moment to greet the crowd with sincere gratitude. The U.S. leg of the tour had just begun a few days prior in Dallas, but the members seemed elated to be able to greet ENGENE in a city they’ve never performed in before.
“We’ve been excited before even arriving here,” JAY said.
SUNGHOON asked if there were any ENGENE at their very first ENHYPEN concert, and was met with dozens of screams. “You must be excited,” he said with a surprised look. “Trust us, it will be even better than you were expecting.”
Surely, the members exceeded expectations as they proceeded to perform the dark and moody “No Way Back.” After briefly exiting the stage again to change outfits, the members created a sense of hysteria by performing “Big Girls Don’t Cry” and “No Doubt.” Both performances were followed with a brief period of barking, a show of admiration from the crowd.
It seemed like the ENHYPEN members were eager to greet the crowd once again, as they took another pause to talk about their adventures so far in San Diego.
JAY said, “It’s our only outside stadium on the tour this time, so I think we were really excited for that too. The weather is really good, by the way.”
“We met ENGENE at Macy’s yesterday,” JUNGWON said with glee. “Are they here today?”
JAY quickly assured JUNGWON that the fans they encountered while at the mall were likely at the show.
Continuing with the show, the members took a seat on raised platforms on stage, serenading ENGENE with “Sleep Tight.” As every member sang their own verse, the crowd affectionately cheered on their biases, creating a warm atmosphere as the day turned into dusk. “Moonstruck” was up next, and the members once again decided to forego any dancing for the majority of the song. This allowed the audience to immerse themselves in ENHYPEN’s impressive vocals and harmonization.
Perhaps it was a wise choice to allow the audience to take things easy for a few minutes, because the next songs on the setlist provided an increasing adrenaline rush. Cardio was definitely on the agenda for the rest of the evening, as the crowd passionately jumped and sang along to fan favorites such as “Bills,” “Paranormal,” “Go Big or Go Home,” “Drunk-Dazed,” “Future Perfect (Pass the Mic),” and my personal favorite, “Blockbuster.” With only a few sections to catch one’s breath in between songs, it almost felt as though there was a fierce competition to see who was having more fun — ENHYPEN, or ENGENE?
Speaking of competition, the members took a moment to judge a cheering competition among the audience. Different sides of the stadium had to compete to see who could cheer the loudest, but the winner wasn’t clear. JUNGWON decided to take matters into his own hands, leading the audience in a chant.
“When I say San Diego, you guys say woo,” he said.
A few laughs followed JUNGWON’s request, as many audience members quickly picked up on what this chant would result in. JUNGWON decided to say ENGENE instead, and said it faster each time. Due to the frequency of the “woo” sounds from the audience members, it almost immediately turned into the “barking” sound that has become a tradition at K-pop concerts in America.
While the evening was indeed coming to an end, the energy certainly wasn’t winding down. The members went on to perform “FATE,” dancing in front of dramatic visuals of rain falling into a blood-colored sea. All of the members exited the stage, except for JUNGWON, who remained standing on a raised platform as the sound of a heartbeat blared through the speakers. He quickly fell backwards, and the visuals on stage showed him sinking into the crimson sea. A few notes of an organ were played, and the entire team returned for a haunting rendition of “CRIMINAL LOVE.”
After a quick audience game where ENGENE participated in fanchant tongue-twisters, the members entered their encore segment by singing “XO” while grabbing objects that were thrown on stage. SUNGHOON rolled up his sleeves and put on a brown San Diego Padres baseball cap, which was eventually passed along for JUNGWON to wear. JUNGWON was also sporting a whimsical cowboy hat with a photo of Wonchu, his representative character from ENHYPEN’s official character project titled “ENCHIN.” NI-KI carefully gripped an American flag that contained a photo of his face, while the other members paraded around the stage. Many audience members also belted out the “opera” version of “XO,” a long-standing meme on TikTok that puts emphasis on the chorus of the song.
As the members prepared to address the crowd one last time, NI-KI unfolded the American flag with pride, admiring the photo chosen to be placed on the flag.
“I’m so happy that I got to see so many ENGENE in such a big venue,” he said. “Once we landed at the San Diego airport and we were headed to the hotel, I was able to look outside for a bit. This area looks so calm, the people look so great, and when I get older, I’m thinking about living here one day.”
JAKE also went on to express his admiration for the city and all of the ENGENE who showed up. He said, “This was our first time here and having a concert here in San Diego. Like NI-KI said, the weather was amazing, and seeing you was amazing. I didn’t really know anything about San Diego before I came, but once I got here, I realized why it’s such a great city.”
To everyone’s surprise, JAY had a previous connection to San Diego. He said, “When I was a kid, me and my father did an MLB stadium tour in America, with every stadium in the States. Honestly, I have no memory, so this would be the first memory of San Diego for me.”
Looking around the audience and admiring all of the flickering lights from ENGENE’s lightsticks, SUNGHOON couldn’t seem to get enough of the venue. “Tonight was such a great night,” he said. “Especially when we’re out here in a stadium and it’s open like this, I think it’s amazing.”
“Honestly, I really want to come back here,” SUNOO said.
As JUNGWON reflected upon the evening, he also couldn’t help but get excited for the next item on ENHYPEN’s schedule. Two days after the concert, the group would make an appearance at San Diego Comic-Con to promote their DARK MOON series.
JUNGWON said, “Because of the love we have in the States, we’re able to have such great opportunities, so please keep supporting us here!”
The members wrapped up the evening with an emotional rendition of “SHOUT OUT,” complete with sparkling confetti blasts and gorgeous fireworks as a parting gift. But in true ENHYPEN fashion, the members had one last surprise up their sleeve for ENGENE. Two minutes later, the members playfully returned to the stage to perform “Go Big or Go Home” one last time.
It’s safe to say that ENHYPEN really did go big for San Diego, and as local ENGENE continue to share their stories of the show, one can only hope that these moments spent with ENHYPEN pave the way for another visit from the group, as well as other K-pop acts.
