Jaïr Faria could easily be considered as one of this generation’s greatest creative minds. Since his childhood years, the Amsterdam born artist has been performing and penning songs that create an instant connection with the listener. Perhaps its his carefully crafted live instrumentals that will draw you in, or his rich vocals that will capture your attention. One thing is for sure — Jaïr has a sound that truly makes him stand out and will leave you feeling satisfied.
During his teenage years, Jaïr began to focus on making music in English. While this did set him apart from his creative peers, it wasn’t until after high school when Jaïr really began to make the necessary steps to pursue music professionally. In 2024, Jaïr began posting covers regularly on his social media channels, and over the course of the year, his audience boomed. Towards the end of 2024, Jaïr released “Broken Heart,” a song that opened many doors for the rising artist including multiple trips to LA.
In 2026, Jaïr appeared on the Netflix revival of Star Search, performing a cover of Kings of Leon’s “Use Somebody.” With millions of viewers worldwide tuning into his music and online content, one can’t help but get excited for what the future holds for Jaïr. Now based in LA, the singer is working on even more music to be released later this year. His new single “August” feels like a slow burn, as he describes the emotions of being drawn back into someone who should have been long gone.

Tell us the story behind “August,” and walk us through the writing process!
‘August’ is about trying to move on from someone and finally reaching a period where life begins to feel light again. But even in the middle of a beautiful summer, one dark, rainy day can bring everything back—the memories, the absence, and the pain you thought you had left behind. The rain becomes a metaphor for those unexpected moments that pull you back into grief, while August represents the warmth and happiness you are trying to return to. It is a bittersweet song about how healing is never completely linear.
The writing process for “August” was actually really spontaneous. I was on my way to the studio to work with someone I’d never had a session with before, and it was pouring rain even though it was right in the middle of summer. While I was in the car, I wrote this line in my notes: “When it rains in the middle of July / June / August.”
When I got to the studio, it was our first session together, but everything clicked really quickly. We had a melody in no time, and then I opened my notes and found that line. At first it was “when it rains in the middle of June,” then it became “in the middle of August,” and eventually we landed on simply: “when it rains in August.”
From there, everything came together incredibly fast. Within about three hours, we had the verses, the chorus and pretty much the whole production.
We still had some studio time left, and I thought it would be really fun to have these big gang vocals at the end of the song — something everyone could sing together that would give it this feel-good moment. Two of my best friends happened to be nearby, so I asked them to come to the studio. They came over and we all recorded the gang vocals together.
It ended up being one of the most fun studio sessions I’ve had so far. The whole song was basically written, produced and finished within five hours, which made the process feel really special.
Over the past few months, your audience has grown exponentially. What is the most important thing new fans should know about you?
I think one of the main things people should know about me is that I’m born and raised in Amsterdam. That’s a really big part of who I am and where I come from. I recently moved to LA, which has been a huge change, but also really exciting for me, both personally and creatively.
My music is very personal. I write a lot about things that are actually happening in my life, so in a way, my songs are like little snapshots of different moments I’ve been through.
Musically, I also don’t really want to put myself in one box. I grew up listening to so many different genres and artists, and I just want to make whatever feels right to me at that moment.
It’s honestly been crazy seeing so many new people discover my music over the past few months. I hope people find a song they connect with and then want to stick around and see where everything goes from there. I’m still figuring things out and experimenting, and I feel like I’m only at the beginning of what I want to do.
Your previous single “Why I Called You” recently racked up over a million streams. How does it feel knowing that your music is being received so warmly all over the world?
It feels really nice, obviously, but I think for me it’s less about the actual number of streams. What means more to me is knowing that the music is actually resonating with people.
Especially seeing people who discovered me through “Why I Called You” stick around, listen to the other songs and connect with the way I write and put my music out into the world. That’s probably the coolest part for me. It feels like I’m slowly building an audience that really understands what I’m trying to do, rather than it just being one song that happened to get a lot of streams.
What is your favorite memory that took place in August? (It can be August of any year!)
I think my favorite August memory would probably be the summer of 2019. I was fifteen and, for the first time, I went to a festival in the Netherlands called Lowlands with my whole friend group without any parents.
I was in a relationship at the time, and pretty much everyone in our friend group was dating someone else in the group, so we were all there together. We spent four days just partying, seeing shows and having the best time.
We also went on vacation together that same summer, so I just have really good memories of that whole period. Looking back, I think that was probably one of the best Augusts I’ve ever had.
Who are some artists you have on repeat at the moment?
At the moment I’ve been listening to a lot of Julia Wolf, YUNGBLUD and Tiffany Day. Tiffany especially has been on repeat for me lately. I’ve also been listening to a lot of Remi Wolf, Charli xcx, Adéla, country artist Joshua Slone, and Sombr. It’s kind of all over the place genre-wise, which is usually how I listen to music anyway.
