Olivia O’Brien @ The Observatory North Park – February 29, 2020

Olivia O’Brien brought her IT WAS A SAD F**KING TOUR to The Observatory North Park last night, and I felt like a teenager again!

Even though that was literally two years ago, being surrounded by so many teens excited to see Olivia made me think about the things I got excited over as a teen. For example, boys wiggling their torsos on Vine, The Hunger Games, Glee, and One Direction just… existing! Ah, good times.

Going to concerts is rejuvenating – there’s no denying that. But there was something in the air that just reminded me of how life was like in the “good old days”. Perhaps it could have been the amount of pre-show screams. Maybe it was the massive sing along to Gwen Stefani’s “Hollaback Girl” and Hot Chelle Rae’s “Tonight Tonight”. Everyone was in such a great mood, and there was pure excitement everywhere. This is what I love to see at shows!

Olivia’s music is so full of life as it is, and seeing it being brought to life was so fun. She kicked things off with a very enthusiastic performance of “Sad Songs In The Summer”, and the whole show flowed together so well.

Forget anyone who did you dirty, gather your friends, and go see Olivia O’Brien live for a good time!
