Demie Cao Draws Out ‘Thicker Lines’ EP

Over the past few months, LA-based rapper and singer/songwriter Demie Cao has been piecing together her new EP. Now, she gets to share it with the world!

Thicker Lines (formally named Airplane Mode) was released on Friday, and features her previous singles “Yung,” “Sage,” and “Rari.” The EP also introduces us to three new tracks – “Thicker Lines,” “Airplane Mode,” and “Wake Up.”

To bring this EP together, Demie worked with many notable figures in the industry, including Holly, Edward Shin, Phil Da Agony of Strong Arm Steady, Brandun Deshay, DPINTHEZOO, Deen, Peter MSTR RCKS Hong, and Justin Park.

Demie also teamed up with Katherine Ho on “Thicker Lines.” Katherine is known for her rendition of Coldplay’s “Yellow” (in Mandarin) which appears in the film adaptation of Crazy Rich Asians.

“‘Thicker Lines’ is a song about moving on from living in the past with resentment and animosity,” Demie says. “I meant for it to be a song about inner turmoil rather than an actual tangible fight that is happening within a relationship. Many times when something goes sour with a relationship/friendship/etc., we (at least I do) tend to hold onto the hurt and anger which festers into a monster within ourselves, even if all that remains of the relationship is just dust- apparitions. Memories. I meant for this song to be about the inner fight someone who is still trying to make sense of toxicity a past relationship might’ve brought, and drawing boundaries from it.”
