New Music Friday: Feb 22 – Harverd to Europa

TGIF! Actually, it’s Thursday night where I’m at, but Thursday nights/Friday at midnight = new music. This week, we’re getting new music from Kehlani, Lil Pump, Diplo, Offset, and more. Check out my personal picks for this week’s new music Friday below!

Lil Pump – Harverd Dropout

Warner Bros. Records

Lil Pump’s long anticipated second studio album Harverd Dropout is out now. The 16 track LP features hits such as “I Love It” featuring Kanye West, and collaborations from Quavo, Lil Wayne, Offset, Lil Uzi Vert, and more.

While the subject matter of Harverd Dropout may not be too unique, it is definitely a step up production wise from Pump’s self-titled debut release. Tracks such as “Multi Millionaire” (featuring Lil Uzi Vert) and “Racks on Racks” are very catchy.

Music doesn’t have to always be deep, and I can say that it’s definitely a great album to play when I’m in the mood to pretend I’m wearing a watch that costs as much as my tuition. But you know, that’s just me.

Diplo – Europa

Mad Decent

Superstar dj/producer Diplo has dropped a brand new EP titled Europa. Following up from his California EP, Europa features six new tracks that will take listeners on a journey curated by the hitmaker.

Europa kicks off with “New Shapes” – a chill R&B track with vocals from French-British rapper Octavian. If you’re into faster songs, you’ll probably enjoy “Oh Maria”, featuring Soolking. And if we really want to go there, “Dip Raar” is a great booty-shaking anthem featuring Ramiks and former Yellow Claw member Bizzey.

The whole EP feels very cohesive, and none of the tracks are skip-worthy. There’s something for everyone, and will leave fans satisfied!

Kehlani – While We Wait

TSNMI/Atlantic

Kehlani’s new mixtape While We Wait features nine soul-satisfying R&B tracks that span a wide range of emotions. Listeners are invited into the 23 year-old singer’s world and will listen to lyrics that many will relate to in some way.

The mixtape feels hand crafted, and I can’t stop listening to Morning Glory!

NGHTMRE, Shaquille O’Neal & Lil Jon – BANG

Gud Vibrations

“Nod your f**king head”!

NGHTMRE has collaborated with Shaquille O’Neal (who also goes by the name DJ Diesel) and Lil Jon on his latest track “BANG”. Needless to say, it’s definitely a song to headbang to and we can expect to hear it at plenty of festivals this summer.

Offset – Father of 4

Quality Control Music

Offset is a man who needs no introduction, but the introduction track on his debut album Father of 4 is a refreshing start to a stacked collection of songs from the famed rapper.

Father of 4 features collaborations from artists such as J. Cole, Gunna, Travis Scott, 21 Savage, CeeLo Green, and more. But of course, the one I’ll focus in on right now is “Clout”, featuring Cardi B. “Clout” is a song about how people will… you know… do “anything” for attention these days.

Ookay – Better Off

Ookay

Ookay is a very creative producer who has created somewhat of a signature synth-y sound for himself. His music is very playful, and he’s back with a new single titled “Better Off”. Heartfelt lyrics are paired up with a catchy guitar riff, and I can’t help but feel like I need to get up and bounce on my bed when listening to this song! (And since I’m a very clumsy person, I won’t do that. But it’s a mood.)
